Returning from an art show in Whitefish, Montana I stopped to visit my friend Ken on the Crow Reservation. Driving out to his ranch I spotted a young colt with his mother in a corral. While catching up with Ken I asked him about the chances of photographing a really young horse maybe with it’s mother. He said that they usually don’t even touch the young ones for a long time after birth but he had a cousin with one of two young ones and they would talk. Well it worked and Ken did his magic with a very gentle approach. Even the mom remained quiet. Again this wasn’t the background. The photography and new environment are mine.
